Ecological Footprint

When I took the Footprint Calculator/Quiz it turned out that I would consume 4.2 Earth's just for my necessities. So for 24 hours to reduce my ecological footprint I didn't eat meat, because meat is a food that I eat almost everyday. Whether it is pork, beef, chicken, or fish. I'm not sure if being a vegan would be cheaper than actually eating meat. Because organic foods, or foods to replace meat is very costly. So I didn't eat any meat at Argos or Andros.
Another thing I changed about my life style at USF was not taking the Bull Runner. Instead I just woke up earlier and walked to my classes. It wasn't any trouble at all besides the cold weather. So with that I decreased my ecological footprint by decreasing the use of pollution. I also reused my water bottle instead of throwing it away and getting another one. So with that I saved more resources, and that saved a bit of money, because I didn't have to buy a new water bottle. I don't drive at all here on campus, so decreasing the use of driving is pointless.
By the end of the day I noticed it wasn't much trouble cto any of these things, except for not eating meat. I have to eat meat it's a MUST in my daily meal. But other than that I was alright with these changes.

End of not using technology

24 Hours No Technology

Living 24 hours without technology was not logical. It actually aggravated me at sometimes. Being in the 21st century in a university requires having access to a cell phone and computer at all times. I needed technology for assignments, and especially for communication. Communication, not that I have realized, is the basis/foundation of everyday life. Without communication my day did not function properly. I had to go to the extremes just do simple things like getting my friends to go to Argos and get lunch, check my grades, make appointments, and doing assignments.
Without using the computer, radio, phone, or any other technical device I did see the world in a different perspective. It was a bit strange, because without the required things to get my errands done I felt more relaxed. There was nothing I could do, other than use paper and pen or walk to a destination to talk to someone, which by the way was horrible because I couldn’t contact them in an efficient way. I saw people walking and talking with their cell phones and I just looked on with envy. But then later in the day I noticed that I was relaxed than everyone else. I guess you could say that I was more peaceful and enjoyed the day, because it went by slowly with the multiple rush hours.
Even though I was more relaxed for those specific 24 hours, didn’t mean that the next day was going to be the same. Everything that I had to neglect that day, I had to make up for the next day. So today was ridiculous. I had double the work, because I didn’t plan accordingly and try to even it out before. So I have double the work, and some people who think I was trying to ignore them.
This assignment didn’t really make me realize how dependent we all are on technology, because that was a known given. But what I did notice was how pathetic it all is…in a distorted way. The fact that we ignore the beauty of family, friends, and our surroundings, is a bit sad. I noticed how much I was thankful to have everything back today. And living like that with all the stress makes life fly by. I noticed the truth when they say we are living in a ‘fast world’. With globalization we all are living at a fast pace and are not appreciating the simple and relaxed things of life.

First Blog

My two games for my first paper was "Bikini Bottom Bust Up" which was an advergame off of Spongebob Squarepants. This game is a child's game that is related to violence in a way where the main characters would karate box, or basically beat each other up. What got to me with this game was the fact that is a child's show, and it is disturbing in the way that eveytime the character gets slapped they laugh. The game is filled with bright colors, happy caribbean music, and the characters are always laughing.

The second online game is called "The Lost Spartan". This game relates to the movie 300. The tone of this game is dark and sinister. When the character thrusts his spear into the opponent, scarlet blood squirts out of it. It's a very violent game where the main goal is to kill as many Persians as possible.
I am doing my paper on Resident Evil IV. The route that I want to go with my paper in a way that shows that it is etically wrong is in it's plot. The story's plot screams 'ethically wrong'. I will emphasize:
1. How politically wrong it is. (dealing with wealth and lies). Also the characters only try to save themselves; with greed, lust, sloth. (I could even incorporate Dante's Inferno.)
2. The overall concept of the game; bringing the dead back to life. ( I even might take this through a religious perspective) I could also use different archetypes to support this.
3. Also how Salazar uses the people as a cult to support his religious beliefs.

*I actually might go religious on this paper. =P

Rare's twisted, deliciously witty 3D platformer is just as deep in design as Conker is in feces
http://ign64.ign.com/articles/163/163960p1.html .

-This article emphasizes the fact that "Conker's Bad Fur Day" is rated M for mature, and is definitly not recommended for ages 17 and below. It talk about how the character gets drunk, curses, and has sexual interactions. The article also includes how the game has movie affiliated references like the "Matrix". Overall it's supposed to be extremely funny and has good visual effects.

Review Conker's Bad fur Day
http://www.gaming-age.com/cgi-bin/reviews/review.pl?sys=n64&game=conker
This article is sums 'Conker's Bad Fur Day" as, "What started out as just another 3D action/adventure game three years ago has transformed into an adult-only comedic romp through a world filled to the brim with explicit language and outrageous scenarios.".
This article compares the game to other games and movies like Diddy Kong, Mario 64, Matrix, The terminator, and more. It also talks about the game's control and visual effects. For example, the control is difficult to manuver to show Conker's hangover level. Basically this game is ethically wrong.
